Nature on The Farm Collage and Applique Picture Workshop with Rachel Sumner - Saturday 10th October 2020
Saturday 10th October 2020 10am - 4pm
Come and spend the day making a collaged and appliqué fabric picture inspired by life on the farm. We will be taking the animals, birds and flowers found in a farm setting and translating them into fabric and stitch.
Using scrap bag materials embellished with stitch to form the landscape we will then go on to appliqué birds/plants/animals to bring the picture to life. Along the way there will be plenty of tips and advice on how to achieve your ideas and templates available for those nervous about drawing and design.
Included: Materials*, equipment, healthy lunch, cake & refreshments!
Sewing Machines all provided by Couling Sewing Machines!
Reference material: if you have a particular scene in mind please bring an image along.
Materials are provided, but if you could it would be lovely if you could bring along a small scrap bag for us all to mix up and share on the day. Natural fibres are recommended in a not too heavy weight but a ‘mixed bag’ is fine. The tutor will be providing some relevant fabrics as well so don’t worry if you haven’t got all the colours you think you might need.
Do bring along your hand sewing kit if you wish to (if not we will have what you need!) : pins, needle, thread, and a few silks for any finishing touches.

She also undertakes private commissions. Her creations have ended up as far afield as South Korea, USA and Australia.
