Create Your Own Lantern with Cut Out Windows or Textile Art Picture!
On this workshop you will spend the day with Cathy learning the art of applique and free machine embroidery and turning and creating your own gorgeous appliqued and embroidered textile design which you can either turn into a lantern or leave it as a textile picture for framing, turning into a cushion or the front of a bag! If you choose to make a lantern Cathy will show you how to cut little windows into your finished design to let the light really shine through and show off your design!
In the morning you will learn a bit about Cathy and how she works, and then spend the morning getting to grips with free motion machine embroidery on the sewing machine and applique. Cathy will bring heaps of old and new fabrics for you to use to build up your own unique designs and guide you through to how to make a beautiful lantern!
If you choose to make a lantern it will measure 10cm diameter by 12cm tall, and will come with a battery operated tealight for delightful decorative effects through your cut out windows when lit. Cathy will provide a small range of neutral coloured base fabrics (stone, pale blue, pale green, cream etc).
This will be a wonderful day of creativity and sewing, and Cathy will be sharing all her experience and know how for beautiful appliqué and stitching!Come and learn these techniques and then create your own beautiful lantern or textile picture to take home.
No experience needed just lots of enthusiasm! Limited places on this workshop so don't miss out!
