2017 Embroidery Workshop Dates
Sunday 23rd April - Crewelwork 10am to 4pm all materials and equipment included.
Crewel work, students will be working a traditional design which has already been transferred onto linen twill fabric. There will be a range of Appletons 2ply crewel wool available for stitching. During this lesson we will be introducing a few new stitches for everyone to try but the day will still be suitable for beginners.
Please bring magnifiers if needed.
Sunday 14th May - Beginners Hardanger 10am to 4pm all materials and equipment included.
Hardanger for absolute beginners. We will discuss the fabrics and threads used for this style of embroidery, order of working and following a chart. We will work a simple motif comprised of Kloster blocks, eyelets and one or two other traditional stitches. We will be working on 22count hardanger fabric so some students may wish to bring magnifiers with them.
Sunday 10th September - Canvas Work
Canvas work is a form of counted threadwork, worked on a plain weave canvas ground fabric, and covering the entire surface with stitch. The most common types of canvas work include needlepoint, petit point, and Bargello work, and can be worked on various types and counts of canvas including single or double.
There are many different stitches used in canvas work. During this lesson we will concentrate on perfecting 5 or 6 of the less complicated stitches to make a small design. This lesson will be geared to those who are complete beginners or those who only have a small amount of experience.
Sunday 19th November - Christmas Project - Fabric Lined Boxes
I'm often asked what to do with little bits of embroidery and making it into a box is good answer. During our workshop we will construct a beautiful simple fabric covered box with lid, into which a small gift could be put or kept as a trinket box. Since we will be on the run up to Christmas our fabrics will have a festive theme. Be warned... Box making is a bit addictive!
